Who should I notify first after I change my name?
You should apply to amend your UK Passport, driving licence and vehicle registration document first. Some organisations, e.g. financial institutions, retain the right to ask to see your amended passport and driving licence showing your new name before they will amend your records. This is because they want to ensure that you are using your Deed Poll to change your name for ‘all purposes’.
Failure to inform the DVLA about a change to your name could result in a fine.
