Are there any documents that I can't have changed?
There are some documents that cannot be amended or reissued after you change your name because they must show the name you were known by at the time they were issued.
These documents include:
• Marriage certificates
• Decree absolute certificates
• Educational certificates
A birth certificate cannot usually be changed unless there are special circumstances. Please select 'Can a birth certificate be changed?' from the FAQ list.
