Is a Statutory Declaration the same as a Deed Poll?

A Statutory Declaration is another method of changing your name, but it is less often used in the UK. A Statutory Declaration is generally drafted by a solicitor, and must be sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths or a Justice of the Peace, so it is more time consuming and more expensive.

Name change by Deed Poll is a far more popular option.
