Can a person with a criminal record change their name by Deed Poll?
If you have a criminal record or if you are on an offenders register or if you have been told that you cannot change your name without informing the relevant authorities, then it is your responsibility to do so. You should seek approval from these authorities before proceeding with your change of name. Your change of name must not be for fraudulent or deceptive purposes, or result in the financial loss of a third party or an illegal act being committed.
