Can I just phone or email people and tell them my name has changed?

In the majority of cases you will need to send written notification of your change of name. This is because most UK organisations want to see documentary evidence of your change of name, e.g. your marriage certificate, Deed Poll document, decree absolute or civil partnership certificate. Many also want to have a copy of your new signature on file.

In some cases however, it is possible to notify your change of name by telephone or email, and the New Name Kit tells you if this is the case.

For details of how the New Name Kit can take the headache out of notifying UK organisations about your new name, please read all about the New Name Kit in ‘Our Products’.
