Who can apply for a Deed Poll?
- British citizens aged 16 years or over and living in the UK or overseas can change their own name by Deed Poll.
- Young people aged 16 or 17 do not require parental consent if they wish to change their name by Deed Poll
- The name of a child aged 15 or under can be changed by Deed Poll if the application is made by an adult who has parental responsibility for the child. Any other adult who shares parental responsibility for the child must also consent to the change of name.
